My sweet baby girl...

is just too cute!!! This is the scene I found in her room the other day..

And this is her getting into the oddest places like always...

A tag from Nancy's blog...

My roommate and I once:
- Never had a roommate...

Never in my life have I:
- been as happy or felt as fulfilled as I do right now!

High school was :
- Nice, but I couldn't wait for it to end... The French system is just too demanding.

When I'm nervous :
- my foot starts jerking like that little bunny's in Bambi, remember him?

My hair :
- is crazy curly so I get it relaxed.

When I was 5:
- I was having one fun, beautiful childhood

When I turn my head left :
- I see the walk in closet door.

I should be :
- having something to eat, I'm about to pass out...

By this time next year :
- I hope to God I'm still here in my beloved Florida!!

My favorite aunt is :
- My Tía Guera (my Mom's sister and God mother)

I have a hard time understanding :
- why can't we all just be nice and get along???

You know I like you if :
- I say so. I am black or white, no shades of gray with me...

My ideal breakfast is :
- Chilaquiles made by my Mom. Yummy!!!

If you visit my home town :
- I'll make sure you have the best time ever and you're gonna love it!

If you spend the night at my house :
- I'm gonna turn down your bed and put goodies on your pillow... The Martha in me...

My favorite blond is :
- My cousin Hector

My favorite brunette is :
- My Natalia

The animal I would like to see flying besides birds :
- Oh, none at all!

I shouldn't have been :
- so indulgent with myself during pregnancy.

Last night I:
- Did some laundry while watching Kathy Griffin .

A better name for me would be :
- None other than my name. I like it a lot.

I've been told I look like :
- Shari Belafonte.

If I could have any car, it would be :
- A big, beautiful, shiny Range Rover with the works!!

Before I leave, here's a pic of a beauty coming my way from Studio Calico...

And some more eye candy from Work in Progress.

I'm off to get ready, my dad comes in to town in a little while !!

Here's a crazy story...

I haven't shared with you guys. I just found this pic I took a while ago and I totally forgot it.
I know it looks freaky but keep in mind those little sugar skulls are about 5 years old...

So, it goes like this: After I lost my first baby girl, Milagros, I was totally obsessed with getting pregnant again as soon as humanly possible. I had already been trying for months with no luck, and I was starting to loose hope again (which apparently is what you have to do to get pregnant, go figure).

Anyway, Juan and I had just found out we were leaving for the U.S. and we had a big party at my grandma's to celebrate and say goodbye to our friends and family. This all happened by the end of October, beginning of November, which is when we celebrate the Day Of The Dead in Mexico.
A tradition of this day, is to buy these cute, colorful sugar or chocolate skulls with your name on them, and I decided to decorate the tables with a little sugar one on each place setting.

My sister Giliane went to the market to buy them for me and amongst the whole bunch of them, the only two names that matched anyone at the party were those of Paulina (my niece) and the other one said Natalia (I always knew that would be my baby's name whenever she decided to show up).

I took it as sign from Heaven, and lo and behold, a few days later I found out I was pregnant with Natalia!!!!

Isn't it freaky and cool?!?!?!

Here's my latest LO. I used Making Memories' Funky Vintage line which I LOVE! Hope you like it. It's a pic of my dad and his precious granddaughters.

Speaking of my dad, he's getting here tomorrow, so I have lots of cleaning to do... It's never ending :)

Have a groovy Wednesday!!

Feast your eyes...

on this delicious creme brulee I made yesterday. It's one of my absolutely favorite desserts, and if I may say so , I make a killer one.

I also did my last photo swap LO. I really like the colors of those papers. Here's hoping Nik and miss Allie like them :)

Before I leave, a BIG shout out to my friend Idan on his first Catwalk at SIS TV!!! Way to go!!

Have a wonderful day :)

Photo swap!!

I finally tackled the pic Nik sent me of Allie. I had a hard time with it, cause the one she did for me is so amazing, I really wanted to do something beautiful for her.

I liked the pic so much that I did 3, yes 3 LOs with it. I haven't scanned the third.... Soon :)

I loved doing this with Nik, and I really hope we'll do it more often!! If you want to swap pics with me, let me know, I'd love it!!

I am really happy cause I just spoke to my Mom and they have their tickets and all!!! They're getting here on the 4th and I can't wait :)

Well, it's time for my work out, so peace out!!

Have a wonderful week :)

My friends ROCK!!!!

I am so incredibly lucky to have found all of you through this hobby that I LOVE so much.
You have all changed my life in wonderful ways, and I have to let you know that I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!

Now, feast you eyes on these beauties...

First, look at the incredibly beautiful page Nik did for me with the pic I sent her in our photo swap. It's perfect all over and I will treasure it for ever.
Thank you so much Nik!!

This is the sketch of the drawing the uber talented Karla Dudley is making for me. I am dying to see the finished product!!! I already know where I'm gonna hang it. I'm so excited!!!

Karla, you Rock big time!

Now, as requested by Nik, here are 7 random facts about yours truly...

1. I can speak four languages: Spanish, English, French and Haitian Creole.

2. If you want to torture me, dirty my hands and stop me from washing them.... ARGHHHH!!! I absolutely cannot stand having dirty hands.

3. I have an incredibly acute sense of smell and they tell me that when I was a kid, I wouldn't get into a car without smelling it first :)

4. I HATE cheese. I know Nik's very surprised...

5. I started walking when I was 9 months old and very soon after that I walked up and down the stairs wearing my Mom's 70's platform shoes.

6. I have been seriously obsessed with shoes ever since I can remember. Every time there was a party at my house (or any house), I used to quietly sit next to a lady whose legs were crossed, and when she least suspected it, I removed her shoe and ran away with it.

7. I have a phobia. A terrible fear of things in clusters. I cannot look at a bee hive, or something with lots of tiny holes in it's texture... Ughhhhhh, just thinking about it makes me shudder. My sister used to get her kicks by taking a piece of putty and making lots of tiny holes in it with a pen tip. I would literally run away screaming. How crazy am I???

Have a great weekend!

Please join me in saying goodbye....

to 9 inches of fatness!!!!!! Yes, 9 wonderful inches are gone. I was just so happy and motivated to keep pushing myself to loose the weight.
I'm also eating much healthier food. I guess the body has it's own way of letting you know that it needs better fuel, cause I haven't been feeling like eating junk anymore!!
Oh, the joy!!!

Monday I got this beautiful picture from Nik. We're doing a photo swap and I can't wait to get started and also to see what wonderful thing she comes up with.
Her girlie is just adorable, isn't she??

I just got my Scrapologie kit and I think it's perfect for this pic.
I hope Nik won't be disappointed :)

My Mom called yesterday to let me know they were in the process of buying their plane tickets to come spend a few weeks with me!!! I love Summer cause it means lots of family visits for us here in Miami! I can't wait till they get here.
I'm also super excited cause they'll still be here for Natalia's 4th birthday on August 8th and it couldn't get better than that!
To top it all off, my dad's coming the weekend after next too, so I have family visits to last me all Summer long :)

Now, I hope you won't turn green with envy because of this, but the amazingly talented Karla Dudley has offered to make one of her incredible drawings and send it to me!!!!
I just could not believe it. How gorgeous are they?!?!?

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that she is one of the absolute BEST scrap bookers around. No doubt.
She also designs for Scrapologie, so you can see more of her perfect work here.

That's it for now my lovelies. I'm off to Curves. I am more pumped than ever!!

Have a great Wednesday!

I have been challenged!!

This is the first time I've ever done a page for a challenge blog. I went with One Little Word's "MY" challenge.
I really wanted to use that pic of Natalia again and my new Making Memories Funky Vintage paper.

This gorgeous gal is my sister Giliane. I finally got to force her into posing for me. It wasn't easy but I think I got beautiful shots of her. That was the easy part!
I got that Scrapworks paper on sale at Scrapgal a while ago and I love it. I wish I had bought some more of it.

I also want to share my joy!! I won a RAK from the sweet Caroline at Maya Road. Look at the great goodies I'm getting!! I just love MR :) I have used so many of their mini albums it's not even funny.

Another first for me, is trying out for a design team. As some of you know, I've never really been interested in getting published or working in the industry, but this time, I love the kits so much I just have to try :)
Wish me luck!

I have to go get Nati ready for school and head out to Curves. The weigh in is today and I am sooooooo nervous. I hope I'll have great news to share with you tomorrow!

Have a great day!!

I hope it's not too much information...

but let me tell you a little weird fact about me. I have the nose of a bloodhound. Seriously, the slightest, faintest smell makes me NUTS. I have always had an incredibly acute sense of smell.

That said, after all the steak searing that happened in this house yesterday, I have been feeling like hell!
We live in Miami, and our apartment has central air conditioning, so no matter how many windows I open, every time I cook, the place stinks for at least 24 hours.
I have not been able to sleep at all. I fell like all the life force has been sucked out of me.

I promise to come back tomorrow and post about interesting things :)

I'm off to try and sleep a little, I am beat...

I'm lucky...

I have many reasons to celebrate today!!! I have in my life an amazing father and I was lucky enough to marry a man who has proven to be a wonderful father to my two girls and to my niece, Paulina.

Today's post is dedicated to them.

This is my dad, my sis and I in the 70's. I'm the one in the red dress :)

Aren't those the most beautiful, kind eyes you've ever seen??

I took this shot of Juan and Natalia on my birthday. I finally got them to hold still for a second...

This last one is Juan with Nati and my niece Paulina from a few days ago when they came to visit from Mexico.

I'm off to the market to shop for dinner. I'm cooking some traditional French bistro food: steak with brandied wild mushrooms and potatoes gratin. Yummy!!

I hope you all have a great day with your dads and "baby dadies".

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

Just a quick weekend post with a little blog challenge.

What makes you smile? Put a smile on your face and tell me all about it!!

Here's my "smile list"...

* the picture above

* the sunsets here in Miami

* having a gorgeous view of the lake when I'm doing the dishes at home

* the little kisses Natalia gives me every morning to wake me up

* big jacaranda trees in bloom

* when Juan makes me cup of delish latte

* getting calls from my family in Mexico

* scrap booking

* having to stop the car so a mama duck and her little ducklings can cross the street

* the fact that I know I have lots of reasons to smile every day!!!!

Have a great Father's Day weekend :)

A lazy rainy Friday in Miami...

It has been raining non stop every afternoon, all week. Right now it's not even 3 pm and we have to turn the lights on in the house cause it's so dark outside...

I still can't stop smiling about my SIS Catwalk appearance. It's just so cool to me that someone else likes the stuff I make :)

I also want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all my blog reading friends. Getting your messages makes me soooo happy. You guys ROCK!

(I found this cute card online :) )

Juan was having big time cravings for my famous chocolate cake so I spent all Wednesday afternoon baking away.
It was worth it though, it really came out delish...
I got the recipe from Cooks Illustrated, the best cooking magazine around.

It's almost tome to go pick up Nati from school, so I'll leave you with this picture of my adorable fairy talking on the phone with her Tita (my Mom)...

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Well, color me HAPPY!!!!

I woke up today to find my I love taking pictures LO on the SIS catwalk section of their gallery!!!!
How cool is that?!?!?!?!
The amazingly talented Kelli Darr chose my page to feature as her favorite.
It was very, very cool to find my work there. It just made my day. Thank you, Kelli!!!

On amazing kit club news, the July peek is up at Work in Progress. Love the summery playful colors. Check it out...

I also discovered Studio Calico. You have to see their debut kit. Gorgeous stuff and a great website. April and Scarlet did a truly amazing job. Congrats to them!

O.K, I'm off to watch the season premiere of Rescue Me. It's been patiently waiting for me inside Mr. TiVo...
Have a wonderful Thursday!!!

Toodles.

We had a great time at the pool... (eta***)

NOT!!!!!! We were getting ready for a day of fun in the sun when these awful dark clouds appeared, and the biggest storm started falling out of the sky :(
I hope it's better today cause the heat is killin' us all. My goodness, is it hot...

ETA:*** I did not take the stormy clouds pic. I wish. I got it online just to illustrate the point :)

I'm getting ready for my first weigh in at Curves this Friday and I am so nervous. I hope I get good news...

I finally got some of those gorgeous Amy Butler papers and I did this page about my sis and I getting our first pair of Crocs.
The colors are off cause the bulkiness of the page doesn't scan too good, sorry...
How dorky are we getting the exact same pair ???

As you can see, I have a new blog banner. My cyber-master hubby put it there for me. I like it a lot!! I was dying to use those Basic Grey papers and rub ons. This is definitely one of my fave pages, if I may say so :)

I'm off to sweat like a maniac.

I love Wednesdays, have a great one!!

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

It's definitely summer...

here in Miami. I went to the mall yesterday and the walk from the car to the entrance, was like walking though a 400 degree oven... It's getting hot in here, so I'm gonna take off all my clothes, put on a swimsuit and take Nati to the pool for the day.
By the way, that is an actual pic of our pool!! Gorgeous, isn't it?

I did a LO yesterday while I was getting ready for Curves and I really loved it. I haven't been this excited about a page in a while. It just came together!!
It's a 2 page 12x12 and my hubby did another amazing Photoshop job of erasing the seam in the middle.
It's perfectly straight in real life, but since I couldn't scan it, the pics make it look weird...

**************************************

One of the blog challenges today at 2 Peas was to share your list of "watch over and over" movies for the boring summer TV months.
Here's mine:

* Evidently, The Fifth Element. LOVE, LOVE it. "Leeloo Dallas multipass, mul-ti-pass"

* Stomp the Yard. Very exciting and entertaining, plus gorgeous guys to look at!

* Borat. You can't go wrong with this one :)

* The Lord of the Rings. Easily my all time fave movies.

* Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Great family fun.

* Fun with Dick and Jane. I'm not a huge Jim Carrey fan, but this one makes me laugh so hard...

* House, M.D. Get the DVDs. It's an amazing series.

* Fever Pitch. The English version, of course. A great movie for guys and girls.

* Shaun Of The Dead. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen!!

* Wimbledon. I have no idea why this one wasn't bigger at the box office. I loved it.

* The Commitments. One of those few perfect movies. A must see.

I have tons more, but this would turn into a huge post. These are my Summer faves.
Enjoy!

A letter to myself...

This is one of the blog challenges today. If you could write a letter to your past self, what would you say?
This isn't exactly a letter, but I would definitely have loved to know these little bits that I've had to learn the hard way...

* RE-LAX!!! Go with the flow. Stop fighting life. Live it!

* Fully enjoy your two pregnancies. They go by in a flash and you are going to miss the huge belly, believe it or not.

* Get over the tiredness and lack of sleep, and cherish every second of your baby while she still is a baby. Really!!

* Have fun at University. Those years are gonna be some of the happiest of your life. Grades are important, but take a break and enjoy :)

* "A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips" is not just a cute little saying...

* Do NOT go on your honeymoon the day after your wedding. First move into your new home, believe me, that's when you'll the vacation...

* Even if it's hot as hell, DO NOT cut your hair. You'll regret it...

* When the darkest day of you life comes, let it out. Cry out loud, scream, ask for help, do no keep it inside. It's you right to crumble. Don't try to be strong for anyone.

I think that's it. I really don't have tons of regrets. What would you have to say to yourself??

Sunday, June 10, 2007

Pardon my French, but...

WTF?!?!?!?! If you saw the series finale of The Sopranos, can you please explain it to me? I am beyond pissed.
That's all I have to say. I don't want to "ruin" it for my west coast pals...

"She" is lucky #13...

...in my Coach bag collection. I've been lusting after this bag for ages and my Dad gave it to me for my birthday. How much does he rock?!?!?!

This gorgeous gal is my cyber friend Monica. I want to send a big shout out to her cause she made my day today. She mentioned my name in a thread on 2 Peas about scrap bookers we admire deeply. Imagine how touched and surprised I was to find a link to my gallery posted by her. Thank you, Monica!! Right back at you from the bottom of my heart :)

I saw Ocean's 13 today and I loved it. It's just like the previous two Ocean's, but still very entertaining and very funny. Watching them all at one point or another during the movie, wearing some kind of crazy mustache was hilarious!! Plus the insane amount of eye candy is a BIG plus.

Have a good, fun filled weekend!
