My true color (for La Verne)

Take this test!
You're blue — the most soothing shade of the spectrum. The color of a clear summer sky or a deep, reflective ocean, blue has traditionally symbolized trust, solitude, and loyalty. Most likely a thoughtful person who values spending some time on your own, you'd rather connect deeply with a few people than have a bunch of slight acquaintances. Luckily, making close friends isn't that hard, since people are naturally attracted to you — they're soothed by your calming presence. Cool and collected, you rarely overreact. Instead, you think things through before coming to a decision. That level-headed, thoughtful approach to life is patently blue — and patently you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's all GOOD!!!!!!

We had an amazing weekend!

The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes was a blast. All my dear friends were there to walk with Natalia and I felt so loved and blessed to have them in my life.

They are the best ever and I consider them all family. Love you guys!!

It was hot as hell and the humidity was out of control, but the kids had fun looking at the animals at Miami Metro Zoo and we had a delicious Mexican lunch together afterward.

Then came the shoppin'....

I got a brand spanking new Honda Accord!!!! Juan wanted to spoil me so I got a killer car to cruise around Miami with Natush.
I still can't believe it. It's a gorgeous car and I feel like those teens that just learned how to drive, and I keep looking for stuff to do outside so I get to drive it :)

Nati went back to school today after about a month since she went into the hospital on that horrible day.

She was greeted by a "Welcome Naty" sign and lots of cards made by her little friends just for her.
Yes, I was a little teary eyed... She was missed.

I am really nervous, but I left instructions and, thank God, I am less than five minutes away from her.
Being a mom 'aint easy, I tell ya'.

We have an important meeting this afternoon. I can't share what about just yet, but please keep us in your prayers so it goes well. A lot is riding on this for us...

Have a groovy and lucky week!

Vroom, vroom!!!!

One of these two beauties, will be coming home with me this weekend!
I am finally getting a car, and these two have always been on my wish list. It's either gonna be a Jetta or a Civic.

I haven't been car shopping in more that ten years, so it is about time.

Tomorrow is our first time participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. We are very excited, and thanks to my amazing family and friends, we have raised almost $1000!!!!

The hope JDRF offers me is all I have to hold on to. The hope that my baby girl will one day be cured of this condition.

It's not too late to help! Visit Natalia's page to make a donation, no matter how small, it brings us a little closer to the goal.

Thank you!!

Have a great weekend!!

Peace out.

Lots of work!!

First of all, a HUGE thank you to all my dear friends who have made a donation to the Walk to Cure Diabetes. I will be eternally grateful to you for your help. It has really meant the world to me and my Family!!

Now, I'll share some more of the custom orders I've been making for my pals!! I love being able to create exactly what someone wants.

These are just some of the pieces I've done lately...

For Rebeakah, simple silver and black tourmalines...

For Jenny. This one is so pretty and girly. Loved it.

Pinks and purples for Steph, are on their way to merry old England.

Malachite and wood for Jenny. Loved the green and brown color combo.

The matching necklace. This looks so cool on the neck. Hope you like Jenn!!

I found this little test on Dav's bog and I was not surprised to find I am a...

I am overwhelmed....

by all the love and support we've been getting from our friends and family.

As you know, Natalia has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and our life has been changed for ever.

This coming Saturday, March 15, we're gonna participate in a Walk to Cure Diabetes organized by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, at the Miami Metro Zoo.
The goal is to raise as much as possible to fund research and find a cure.

Any help you can give us will be incredibly appreciated. Having the hope of one day hearing that my baby girl can be cured from this, is what keep us going!

I have created a page where you can read all about the JDRF's efforts to find a cure and how you can help. See it here.

Thank you all so much!!

I can't wait...

to finally get this baby in my hands and see my first ever page publication!!

my sweet friend Emily pushed me to submit. I did, and when I got the e-mail requesting my page I couldn't believe it. So a big THANK YOU goes out to her.

Cool stuff indeed :)

Speaking of Em, she tagged me on her blog, so here goes...

Here are the rules:
* Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
* Tag 7 people at the end of your post.
* If you're reading this, consider yourself tagged!!

1. I had a suspicious mole removed from one of my toes.

2. I will never be without kleenex, lip balm and hand cream. NEVER.

3. I lived through LOTS of coup d'etats, martial law, curfews, and lots of crazy situations while living in Haiti.

4. I cannot stand Elizabeth Hasselbeck from The View. She is just shrill. I am pretty sure she hasn't been fired, cause Barbara Walters just can't find a young republican to replace her short of hiring Ann Coulter. Blech!!!!! Off my soap box now...

5. I am totally addicted to decaf diet Coke.

6. I am terribly afraid of frogs.

7. Even though I love baking, I hate the feeling of flour on my hands.

Have a wonderful week!!

I am so flattered by this

My very first scrap crush, and all time scrap idol, Laura Kurz asked me for a custom piece from Handmade by ANILU. Do you know how incredibly cool it is for me that she likes my stuff too???

These are a couple of pics of what I made for her... She loved it and I couldn't be happier of more flattered!!

Now, to keep feeding the Mac junkie in me, I'm off to the Apple store to get this baby...

Oh, yeah!!

Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Hello, I'm a Mac...

a brand spanking new, gorgeous MacBook, generously given to Anilu, by her sweet Dad!!

I haven't been able to put her down! Yes, my Mac is a "she". My previous one was falling apart so she has been replaced.

I am also very spoiled by my Cupcake Scrapshop boss. March's kit is a compilation of all the DT's fave stuff, and I have to say it has obviously been my fave so far.

Check out the pages I made with it. You can see the team's amazing creations here.

Juan's first day at work was great! He came home happy and excited. I never saw that on his old job...

The best news of the day, however, was that Natush is doing just fine. She had a Dr's appointment and her insulin was reduced!! I am so incredibly blessed by this little girl. She is my pride and joy!

Last Friday we had lunch at Les Halles in Coral Gables and I ordered the duck and Juan, a steak au poivre. So far, Natalia had been the pickiest eater in history, and that day, out of the blue, she downed half of my duck and half of Juan's steak!!
Yesterday at lunch she had a grilled (no more chicken fingers) chicken breast and, get ready, STEAMED BROCCOLI!!!

Needles to say I am in heaven!!

I'm off to start the day. My Dad is here to visit his princess/granddaughter so I'm gonna go get ready to hit the town.

Have a great Tuesday!

It's been cra-zy...

but we are sooo back on track!!

Natalia is home and doing so well. She has gotten completely used to her new life as a diabetic. God bless her little heart. She has been so brave and grown up about it.

It's clear to me that God sends us nothing but the things we can handle. He must have lots of faith in me :)

She is going back to school at the end of the week and all is well in the universe again.

Today is also one of the happiest days of my life cause Juan started a new job today! It's an amazing company where they have finally realized how GOOD he is at what he does. The pay is insane and his boss couldn't be better.

For those who don't know, he is a magazine editor and he used to make the Spanish versions of Men's Health and ESPN The Magazine.

You can read all but my desperation here.

But, those days are long gone and right now our future's so bright, we gotta wear shades!

Onto scrappy news, I managed to finish my WIP LOs for march. The kit was a joy to work with and I am gonna finish every last scrap of it.

Check them out...

I am off to finish some custom orders for Handmade by ANILU for my dear friend Jenny and Nati has a Dr's appointment so I'm off.

Toodles!!
